RISE-NY Workforce Enrichment: Family Engagement & Leadership Learning Path
Stronger Families, Stronger Schools
When families thrive, schools thrive. But the ripple effect doesn’t stop there — when parents feel confident their children are supported at school, they’re less stressed at work, more focused, and able to bring positive energy back into the home. That’s the vision behind the RISE-NY Family Engagement & Leadership Learning Path: a year-round program that strengthens the bridge between school, home, and community life.

This initiative is more than parent workshops — it’s a comprehensive learning path that weaves leadership, emotional connection, and cultural identity into everyday family life. By investing in parents as leaders, schools build a stronger, more resilient ecosystem for students.
What the Learning Path Includes: (All courses are delivered in the Spanish- and English-language)
- Parent with Purpose / Padre con Proposito - Builds Parent Champions - Equipping parents to serve as peer leaders, role models, and ambassadors for family engagement.
- Growing Together / Creciendo Juntos: Culturally responsive and practical know-how workshops that build emotional bonds, improve communication, and give families tools for navigating everyday challenges.
- Steven Covey’s 7 Habits for Families: Monthly sessions that bring proven leadership principles into the home, helping parents and children build routines of trust, responsibility, and unity.
- Creative & Vocational Parent/Child Workshops: Shared learning in art, cooking, design, trades, and public speaking that strengthens bonds while teaching practical, future-ready skills.
- Latinx Cultural Infusion Family Trips: Unique family experiences that celebrate heritage while rewarding commitment and engagement.
- Bridges to the Future & Momentum Sessions: Orientation-style gatherings at key times of the year that focus on transitions, readiness, and re-energizing the parent-school-student partnership.
Why It Matters
Parents who are connected and supported bring that energy into every part of their lives. At home, they foster stronger bonds and more consistent routines. At work, they’re less distracted by worry and more present, productive, and focused. For children, the impact is measurable — improved attendance, stronger behavior, greater emotional well-being, and higher achievement.
For schools and decision-makers, the program answers three major needs:
- Deepening collaboration between parents, staff, and students.
- Increasing awareness so parents feel informed and equipped to support their child.
- Strengthening transitions from elementary to middle to high school.

The Bigger Picture
The Family Engagement & Leadership Learning Path is not just an initiative — it’s a framework for how schools can partner with families to create long-lasting success. By integrating leadership development, cultural identity, and emotional connection, the program supports the whole family, which in turn supports the whole child.
When parents feel strong, students feel supported, and communities grow. That’s the power of investing in family engagement — and why this program belongs at the heart of every school’s yearly plan.
